"A heartfelt, personal story of the gradual awakening of a woman who comes to see that preferring the 'human to the perfect' does not alienate her from authentic spirituality but allows her to live more fully."
Kathleen Norris,
author of The Cloister Walk
The first vows we took were valid for only a year. Each year, for six years, we asked permission to renew our vows. After six years of temporary vows, we asked permission to take final vows for life. When Mother gave us permission for vows, she’d write a little note, emphasizing the virtues she thought each of us most needed to improve. This was the note she wrote for me the first year I renewed vows. You can see I had a lot to work on.
