Mary Johnson

Service:  In addition to poverty, chastity, and obedience, Missionaries of Charity take a fourth vow which defines this group within the church.  Missionaries of Charity vow to give wholehearted and free service to the poorest of the poor.  My first assignment after profession was back to North America.  In the South Bronx, Washington DC, and Winnipeg, I worked mostly with the children, and I loved it!  I’m the sister with raised hand—which was supposed to be the signal for everyone to put up their hands, too, to get quiet and pay attention—not so easy!
