"A heartfelt, personal story of the gradual awakening of a woman who comes to see that preferring the 'human to the perfect' does not alienate her from authentic spirituality but allows her to live more fully."
Kathleen Norris,
author of The Cloister Walk
Poverty: MCs took the vow of poverty very seriously, living--as much as possible--like the poor we served. We had two sets of clothes, which meant we had to wash them each time we changed. We did all the washing by hand, then hung the clothes to dry. Eventually we sewed ourselves a third set of clothes, for use on special days and emergencies.
