Chastity: The primary obligation of chastity is to renounce marriage. But for Mother Teresa, chastity went further. Chastity required keeping our body and soul, all our affections, solely for God. We weren't to touch one another: no hugs even on the day of profession. We weren’t to talk much with people outside the convent, nor have a close personal friendship with any of the sisters. Chastity was supposed to lead us deeply into the one intimate relationship that mattered: the relationship with God. We prayed four hours every day. Jesus was the center of our lives. Mother said that Missionaries of Charity were spouses of Jesus Crucified.
